꩜ “A Heroine’s Journey: Descent,” is part of a series exploring the necessary inner death and rebirth cycles in our lives which guide us to explore, grieve, learn, create, and to return home.

This print depicts the pivotal part in our journeys where we must surrender and swim deep into the unknown, despite the fear, for we are always protected and guided by our ancestors. In Filipino precolonial times, crocodiles were revered as ancestral spirits, guardians of the life/death threshold. 

꩜ The original painting uses oil and spray paint, as shown in the photo, to promote returning to creating with our hands again.
