꩜ “Batangas” is where the artist is from in the Philippines. This digital drawing explores Ainara’s memories from the motherland and the importance of shared community spaces. Ainara’s family would come together to eat homecooked meals by Lola (grandma). Some ingredients were from Lola Emy’s garden like “malunggay,” (morginga leaves) and on the table there could be “kamayan” (using hands to eat.) This remembering is necessary for the diaspora.
